PRESIDENT – DAVID DOOLEN
David Doolen, the President of JADA, has over 34 years of Alaska construction experience, much of it as a contractor in Anchorage. In addition to his residential background, his resume includes commercial, institutional, and industrial expertise as a member of Alaska Carpenters Local 1281.
David has lived half his life “off the grid”, and continues to do so. “Off the grid” is jargon for not being hooked up to or buying electricity from commercial producers. His interest and knowledge in energy efficiency therefore goes beyond the theoretical, to the everyday practical.
David’s own home is powered by a state-of -the-art home generation system that includes solar and wind. This system dates back to the early eighties, making the Doolens Alaskan pioneers as users of alternative energy in a modern lifestyle. The same can be said for their early use of SIPs. The Doolen home is located in the upper reaches of Rabbit Creek Valley; a high wind area that puts SIPs to the test. The Doolens do sleep through 100 mph wind storms. Their home participates in Anchorage’s annual Solar Tour.
