It starts with you.
Whether considering new home construction, an addition to an existing structure, or a remodel; your desire for a change from your current circumstances is the first step. That step is easy…it gets more complicated after that. This is likely to involve your single biggest asset, so we’re talking about money; often times lots of it. We’re also talking about your quality of life, and the potential for improving that quality.
Big questions beg for answers:
What can we afford on our budget? Will that budget be enough to accomplish our vision? If it isn’t enough, are we being too extravagant? Can we scale back and still be satisfied with the results? Are we being too frugal? Can we afford to spend more? Are our expectations for costs in line with reality? What actually will, in the long run, make us happy?
These questions all lead up to the really big question; who should we trust to assist us with these decisions, and get the job done once we’ve made these decisions?
We at JADA have assembled the following information to help. It is valuable and important information to know when facing the prospect of a large (large is a relative term – large to you) project. These are three articles from various past issues of “Fine Home Building” magazine that deal with:
1) Budgeting before you spend money on design
2) What it takes for a successful project
3) Selecting a contractor
Please read them. We assembled these one by one over time because they were so on-target. What we didn’t realize until later is that they are all written by the same author, John McLean, an architect from the San Francisco area and a frequent contributor “to Fine Home Building.” Armed with this information and a copy of Susanka’s “The Not So Big House” you will be, in our opinion, an informed prospect.
Not everybody takes our reading advice, so here is the short (think Monarch Notes) summation. We at JADA Construction Co. are honest, broadly experienced, competent, and dedicated to our work.
